Hospice and Palliative Care

Purpose:
1) To educate the students of CNU on end of life care issues and best practices by offering hands on volunteer experiences and lecture series by community experts

2) To provide the community with volunteers to help serve the terminally ill.

Mission Statement:
The mission of this group is to prepare CNU's future healthcare professionals to not only work with terminally ill patients, but help them thrive. Regardless of future speciality, every physician and pharmacist will someday encounter a patient with a terminal diagnosis. Through hands-on volunteer experience with hospice patients in the community, this group not only aims to educate our future doctors and pharmacists on end of life care issues and obstacles, but also hopes to provide an often under-appreciated patient population with much-needed volunteers and support. Additionally, members of this group will be educated in bereavement by local experts, and monthly lectures will be given by members of the interdisciplinary hospice team.

Just because a life is ending does not mean it cannot be changed.
